Cory Band Launches First Solo & Ensemble Competition
Details Announced for New Solo Competition Hosted By The Cory Band
The Cory Band have announced their inaugural Solo & Ensemble Competition to take place on Sunday, 20th October, 2024, at West Monmouth School, Pontypool. The competition will be adjudicated by Glyn Williams and Hannah Plumridge and will offer a fun, welcoming environment for soloists to showcase their skills.
The competition will take place across two rooms and entrants will have access to professional accompanists or are welcome to bring their own.
Prestigious Prizes
It isn't just the glory of winning that is on offer for successful soloists who manage to take a spot on the podium. Cash prizes are on offer in all sections, and overall section winners will take home a bumper prize, including:
Overall Open Solo Champion: £400 cash prize, 3 hour professional recording with piano & filming by World of Sound in Northampton and an opportunity to perform a solo work with the Cory Band at a mutually agreeable event with contribution to travel costs
Overall Junior Solo Champion: £200 cash prize, 3 hour professional recording with piano and filming by World of Sound in Northampton an opportunity to perform in a concert with The Cory Band at a mutually agreeable event with contribution to travel costs

Best Euphonium/Baritone

Discounts from Wright & Round Music Publishers
Wright & Round Music Publishers are supporting the competition by offering a £3 discount on entry fees for competitors using their published music. Additionally, participants can receive a 25% discount on new music purchases specifically for the contest by contacting the Cory Band for a voucher code, valid until October 10, 2024.

Late entries may be accepted at the organizer’s discretion.
Entry Fees: Non-refundable and payable via bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal.

Accompaniment available for all sections besides Quartet/Quintet, £2 fee per section entered
