Helen Minshall Wins Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Award
Celebrating a Champion of Brass Education
Lancashire-based brass educator Helen Minshall has been awarded Classic FM's Visiting Music Teacher of the Year 2024. Known for her outstanding work with young musicians, Helen's impact spans her roles with Brass Bands England’s Brass Foundations, Lancashire Music Service, and her own teaching company, Minshall Music.
Inspiring Generations
Helen's dedication to brass education has nurtured countless young talents, especially through her work with Lancashire Youth Brass Band and Astley Youth Band.
The judges praised Helen's long-standing commitment to music education, noting her ability to inspire successive generations of brass players.
Recognised for Excellence
Alongside the honor, Helen received £3,000 in musical prizes, which she plans to donate to the Lancashire Youth Brass Band.
Speaking on her achievement, Helen said:
“I feel very privileged to have a job doing something I’m passionate about and to be able to celebrate like this means the world! Thank you to all my wonderful students and colleagues at Lancashire Music Hub, Brass Bands England, Minshall Music LTD, Astley Youth Band, More Music for all your ongoing support and to all the children and staff at the many schools I am lucky enough to visit regularly.”
Classic FM Live Celebration
Helen will receive her award live on stage at the prestigious Classic FM Live event at the Royal Albert Hall on October 21st, where she will join fellow award recipients.
